Antique Classical Roman/Greek Warrior Guardian Statue

Antique Classical Roman/Greek Warrior Guardian Statue

A classical warrior or guardian figure, rendered in solid-cast brass with authentic period detailing. The figure wears a short tunic and laced sandals, gripping a downward-pointing dagger in one hand whilst holding aloft a flaming torch or urn serving as the desk piece's grip. This combination of dagger and torch embodies timeless symbols of liberty, enlightenment, and civic guardianship—popular motifs in 19th-century European desk accessories. The downward blade suggests defensive readiness and peace rather than aggression. Crafted in the Victorian and Edwardian era (circa 1880–1915), this piece reflects the Neoclassical and Romantic movements, where functional desk items were sculpted as miniature monuments. The underside displays the characteristic texture of sand-casting, with a central threaded brass nut securing the figure to its weighted base. Time and oxidation have developed a natural patina across the brass, evidence of its authentic age and provenance.
